Parliamentary activity

As well as holding regular meetings, the APG-WPS operates through the varous procedures at the disposal of our parliamentary members to keep women, peace and security issues on the parliamentary agenda.

 January 2009

APG Joint Chairs, Baroness Uddin and Anne Milton MP, wrote to Foreign Office minister, Lord Malloch Brown about contributions made during the Queens Speech debates in the House of Lords and UK policy on women, peace and security in Afghanistan

   

 April 2009

To follow up an earlier parliamentary question, Vice Chair of the APG, David Drew MP, wrote to Foreign Office minister Bill Rammell MP about the UK National Action Plan on UNSCR1325

   

 September 2009

To follow up some of the points raised during the APG meeting on widowhood in July 2009, Joint Chair Anne Milton MP wrote to the Foreign Secretary

   

October 2009

When new Ministerial responsibilities at the Foreign Office were announced, Joint Chair of the APG wrote to Baroness Kinnock who took over responsibility for women, peace and security.

February 2010

Joint Char of the APG, Anne Milton MP, wrote to the Minister for Women and Equality ahead of her visit to the Commission on the Status of Women in New York.

Overseas Visits

June 2009

GAPS co-sponsored Congolese Senitor Eve Bazaiba to visit the UK. She attended a number of meetings including a roundtable with the APG-WPS.
