APPG-WPS Events.
The APPG-WPS holds meetings and events with civil society, INGOs, Parliamentarians and Governments.
Events by the APPG-WPS allow civil society, INGOs, Parliamentarians and Governments to have dialogue on Women, Peace and Security issues and open up access for collaborative efforts to eliminate gender inequality. Public events by the APPG-WPS are free to attend and there is always a Q&A section for the audience to ask questions.
An important event in the APPG-WPS calendar is the NAP Report to Parliament. At this annual event, the UK Government orally present their progress on the UK National Action Plan (NAP) on Women, Peace and Security to Parliament. This includes Ministers from the UK Departments who implement the UK NAP which is the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office and the Ministry of Defence. GAPS will review this Annual Report and present its own Shadow Report, written by civil society. Civil society use this event to ask questions to the UK Government and give feedback on its progress on the NAP, read the report from the latest Report to Parliament here.
Events by the APPG-WPS are chaired by Baroness Fiona Hodgson of Abinger CBE, co-chair of the APPG-WPS.

COVID-19, Conflict and Sexual Violence
On Monday 18 January 2021, the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Women, Peace and Security (APPG-WPS) and the All-Party Parliamentary Group for the APPG on Preventing Sexual Violence in Conflict (APPG-PSVI) hosted an event titled “COVID-19, Conflict and Sexual Violence”, co-chaired by Baroness Fiona Hodgson, Co-chair of the APPG-WPS and Anthony Mangnall MP, Chair of the APPG-PSVI.
Women, Peace and Human Security: Parliamentary Engagement During and Post COVID-19
On Monday, 16 November 2020, the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Women, Peace and Security (APPG-WPS), together with UNDP, hosted an event titled ‘Women, Peace and Human Security: Parliamentary Engagement during and post COVID-19’.
This event reflected on two monumental events of 2020, the 20th anniversary of UNSCR1325 and the COVID-19 pandemic, and how these two are linked.
The Past, Present and Future of the Women, Peace and Security Agenda
On Tuesday 20 October 2020, the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Women, Peace and Security (APPG-WPS), together with GAPS hosted an event titled “20th Anniversary of UNSCR 1325; the Past, Present and future of the Women, Peace and Security Agenda”. To mark the 20th anniversary of UNSCR 1325, the landmark resolution on the Women, Peace and Security agenda, this event was hosted to provide a valuable and important dialogue to explore challenges and opportunities as well as to identify the future of the agenda.
WPS hosts the UK Government’s Annual Report to Parliament in 2019
On Monday 13 July 2020, the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Women, Peace and Security (APPG-WPS) and Gender Action for Peace and Security (GAPS) co-hosted the UK Government’s oral Report to Parliament in 2019 on the UK National Action Plan on Women, Peace and Security.
COVID-19 and Gender Equality, Global Peace and Security
On Tuesday 23 March 2020, the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Women, Peace and Security (APPG-WPS), together with GAPS hosted a virtual event titled ‘Call to Action: Now and the Future, COVID-19 and Gender Equality, Global Peace and Security’. This event builds on the GAPS paper, ‘Call to Action: Now and the Future, COVID-19 and Gender Equality, Global Peace and Security’ which addresses the deeply gendered impacts of COVID-19 and calls for a rights-based approach, gender-conflict analysis to be at the centre of global response and recovery.
“International Women’s Day 2020: Brave women on the frontlines of peace and rights”
On Tuesday 3 March 2020, the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Women, Peace and Security (APPG-WPS), together with the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Human Rights, Amnesty International UK (AIUK) and GAPS hosted an event titled ‘Brave women on the frontlines of peace and rights’ for International Women’s Day 2020. This event builds on AIUK’s global BRAVE campaign which calls for the urgent protection of human rights defenders (HRDs).

On Tuesday 4 February 2020, the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Women, Peace and Security (APPG-WPS), together with the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Sudan and South Sudan, Oxfam and GAPS hosted an event titled “Feminist Leadership and Inclusive Peacebuilding”.
2020 Inaugural Meeting
On Tuesday, 7 January 2020, the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Women, Peace and Security (APPG-WPS) held its inaugural meeting.

"Life in Limbo – adolescent girls in crisis and conflict"
On the week of World Refugee Day 2019, the All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Women, Peace and Security partnered with Plan International UK, ActionAid UK, the International Rescue Committee (IRC), and Gender Action for Peace and Security (GAPS) to host a panel discussion on meeting the needs of adolescent girls in emergencies.

On Wednesday, 18 July 2018, the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Yemen and the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Women, Peace and Security co-hosted the event “Women in Yemen’s war”.
Sexual violence in conflict in Nigeria and Somalia
The All-Party Parliamentary Group on Women, Peace and Security (APPG-WPS), in collaboration with the Nigeria INGO Forum and the Somalia NGO Consortium, organised the panel discussion Sexual violence in conflict: Reclaiming women’s agency through law, policy and practice to mark the International Day for the Elimination of Sexual Violence in Conflict (19 June).
WPS hosts the UK Government's annual report to Parliament in 2017
On Tuesday 19 December 2017, the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Women, Peace and Security (APPG-WPS) and GAPS co-hosted the Government’s 2017 annual report to Parliament for 2017. The Foreign and Commonwealth Office, the Ministry of Defence and the Department for International Development presented their progress in implementing the 2014-2017 UK National Action Plan (NAP), the final report for this NAP.

On Wednesday 11 October, the APPG Friends of Syria and APPG on Women, Peace and Security hosted an event with Families For Freedom – a women-led campaign for the rights of all detainees in Syria.
