Where We Work.

IN THE UK
Security commitments across foreign, development, defence and domestic policy. We work closely with our members and global partners to bring evidence, feminist analysis and lived experience into UK decision-making.
To influence policy and practice, GAPS engages directly with the UK Parliament, meeting with Parliamentarians to increase scrutiny and political attention on Women, Peace and Security. When appropriate, GAPS submits evidence to Parliamentary committees, including the International Development and Foreign Affairs Committees.
GAPS also provides the secretariat for the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Women, Peace and Security (APPG–WPS).
The APPG–WPS is a parliamentary forum for discussion, learning and analysis on WPS, with events focused on thematic issues and country contexts, bringing together Parliamentarians, policymakers and civil society.

GLOBALLY
GAPS works to monitor, promote and support the development and implementation of Women, Peace and Security policy and practice. We work alongside our members, partners in fragile and conflict-affected contexts, women’s rights organisations, academics, multilateral agencies and governments to advance the full realisation of the WPS agenda.
GAPS focuses on a wide range of Women, Peace and Security issues, including displacement, climate and the environment, funding for women’s rights organisations, disarmament, the protection of women human rights defenders, women’s participation and leadership, conflict prevention, violence against women and girls, and gender-responsive humanitarian action, among others.
We undertake this work through research, advocacy, programming insight, global and national events, learning workshops and long-term partnerships. Our approach is grounded in feminist analysis and informed by the priorities and expertise of women rights and civil society in the contexts where we work.
